Former Eli Lilly executive, David E. Thompson, joins Bayhill Therapeutics board of directors
Palo Alto, CA, April 6, 2006 – Bayhill Therapeutics Inc., a privately held biopharmaceutical company, today announced the appointment of David E. Thompson to the Bayhill Board as an independent director.
“David’s broad background in product strategy, business development and corporate finance complements the skills of our Board and management team,” said Mark W. Schwartz, Ph.D., President and CEO of Bayhill. “David’s demonstrated business development expertise is central to Bayhill as we develop our antigen-specific technology pipeline and form strategic partnerships with pharmaceutical companies,” he said.
Mr. Thompson joins the Board following his retirement from Eli Lilly & Company where he was Vice President of Corporate Strategy & Business Development. In this role, Mr. Thompson’s primary responsibilities were to direct the company’s activities related to corporate strategy, product licensing, R&D alliances, M&A, Lilly’s venture group and the alliance management team.
Under his leadership, Lilly established over 250 partnerships significantly strengthening the company’s product and technology portfolio while establishing an industry leading position in partnering and alliance capabilities.
“Bayhill has a variety of clinically relevant programs that we believe begin to address the unmet needs facing patients with multiple sclerosis and physicians who treat them,” said Mr. Thompson. “I am working with the management team and the Board as Bayhill plans and executes its partnering programs.”
